Hoi An to Da Lat City is 600km long. It takes us 15 hours to drive. Many tourists do not know how to go from Hoi An to Da Lat because there are no flights directly to Da Lat city from Hoi An, Quang Nam.
Go to Dalat by flight from Hoi An
It’s because there are no airports in Hoi An, Quang Nam. Thus, you need a transfer to Danang Airport, the nearest airport from Hoi An City, and then you can catch flights to Dalat. There are a few flights of Vietnam Airlines or Vietjet flying from this airport to Dalat that you can check.
After you come to Lien Khuong Airport, you need another transfer to move to Dalat City Center. This distance is about 30km from the airport to Dalat center.
Travel to Dalat from Hoi An by bus
There are some buses from Hoi An to Dalat via Nha Trang city. It means you will take the buses to Nha Trang for around 12 hours. The bus will stop here for a few hours. Maybe you will change to another bus to continue driving 4 hours to Dalat. This way is cheap to travel for many backpackers.
Use a private car from Hoi An to Dalat
Many guests also use a private car with a driver from Hoi An to Da Lat City because this transportation is easier to stop to take pictures along the way.
However, the car is more expensive than other methods. You can drive one day from Hoi An City to Da Lat; however, we recommend you should spend 2 or 3 days on this drive to explore more mountainous views or learn more about the culture of minority groups along the way.
This suggested itinerary is for 2 days: day 1: Hoi An to Quy Nhon and day 2: Quy Nhon to Dalat; for 3 days: day 1: Hoi An to Kon Tum, day 2: Kon Tum to Buon Ma Thuot and day 3: Buon Ma Thuot to Dalat.
Three-day trip from Hoi An to Da Lat through Central Highlands

Day1: Hoi An to Kon Tum
We will drive from Hoi An to Kontum on Ho Chi Minh trails through beautiful stretches of mountains. You will get a chance to visit the lovely villages of ethnic minorities with typical stilts. You will relax at Kon Tum.
Day 2: Kon Tum to Buon Ma Thuot
We will start at 8:00 am to visit the unique wooden cathedral, the spectacular Kon Klo suspension bridge, and an ancient Kon K’Tu village. Then, we will continue driving to Buon Ma Thuot through local villages, cassava fields, and the others. On the way, you stop taking pictures at coffee and rubber farms. Relax at Buon Ma Thuot.
Day 3: Buon Ma Thuot to Da Lat
In the morning, we drive through scenic roads to Lake Lak to enjoy its beauty. Then, you can take “an elephant ride”- optional. In the afternoon, we drive to Da Lat- “a romantic city of love”. The drive will end at Da Lat City.
