2. The best time to visit Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park

The ideal time to travel to Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is from April to September. During this period, the weather is clear and favorable for walking, swimming, and sightseeing at tourist places.

But, you also note that Quang Binh belongs to a tropical monsoon climate with two distinct seasons, including:

  • Dry season (from April to September): The outside temperature is 36-37° C, and the temperature in the cave is always 20-21° C, very mild. This is a good time to participate in cave exploration in the heart of the world’s natural heritage, Phong Nha—Ke Bang. However, you notice a big gap in temperature inside and outside the cave.
  • The rainy season (from October to March next year): In the rainy season, the Son River’s water rises, obscuring the cave entrance. So tourists can not visit the wet cave of Phong Nha. However, dry caves, such as Ten Son and Paradise Cave, still usually operate. But, you may care about the slipper on the steps when you climb up steps to visit these sites.
