At every land we visit and travel, we like to taste the flavors of its food. Coming to Phu Yen, that is very interesting to walk around, discover the beauty of nature, and enjoy some famous local dishes.
1. Tuna eyes of the ocean
Phu Yen is a land of the sea with many delicious dishes and beautiful scenery. When traveling to this place, you should taste some local food made with tuna, such as ocean tuna wrapping broccoli with mustard, especially tuna eyes. It sounds scary, but if you taste one tuna eye cooked with vegetables and Vietnamese herbs, you will want to eat it again and again.
2. Dry beef
Dry beef is a specialty of Phu Yen that can be enjoyed and bought as a gift. The beef is made carefully and dry in the sun.
3. Dong spring rolls (Chả Dông)
This is a specialty of Phu Yen province. Dong meat is usually available in the summer when people catch and cook with many kinds of herbs. Cha Dong tastes very tasty and crunchy, and this food is served with raw vegetables and sauces.
4. Blood Cockle (sò huyết) at O Loan Lagoon
O Loan Lagoon is not only famous for its beautiful landscape but also has a lot of blood cockles. Blood cockles are fresh and washed to release all the mud, then steam or grill them. Tasting blood cockle and watching the sunset on the Cai River is great.
5. Fine rice vermicelli and heart porridge (Bánh hỏi cháo lòng)
When visiting Phu Yen, you should not ignore the fine rice paper and its porridge. The rice vermicelli is made from rice flour and has a meticulous process. To eat them, prepare them on the dishes with spring onion, and a little grease. Then, roll them with roasted pork. Mainly, this dish is loved to be eaten with hearty porridge.
6. Corn baked with fish sauce
Grilled corn is not strange for diners in Vietnam. However, the local people of Phu Yen use sweet fish sauce to grill the corn. The corn will become yellow on the charcoal stove. That is wonderful to taste. (Minh Yen- Vietnamdrive)
