Visiting Phu Quoc by plane is the most convenient method to travel to this island. The flights will land at the new Phu Quoc International Airport, in the East part and near the biggest city on the island.
You can get a taxi, a shared bus or a private car from travel agencies to move from this airport to your hotels in the city center.
There are no public buses of the government from the airport to the city center of Duong Dong of Phu Quoc Island, but tourists can use shared buses from private companies.

1. Phu Quoc International Airport
Phu Quoc International Airport has a vital role in developing tourism on this island because it serves around 6 million guests per year (2022) through this airfield.

- Aircraft parking lot: 33,400 m2 with 8 aircraft parking positions.
The airport has domestic airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific, and Bamboo Airways, and some international airlines operate daily routes such as AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, and Donghai Airlines.
For domestic routes, there are currently routes to Phu Quoc and vice versa as follows:
- Hanoi to Phu Quoc
- Saigon to Phu Quoc
- Hai Phong to Phu Quoc
- Rach Gia to Phu Quoc (not many flights)
- Can Tho to Phu Quoc
- Da Nang to Phu Quoc
As the design of Danang Airport and Phu Bai Airport in Hue City, the building of Phu Quoc Airport has two floors:
- The first floor is used for the arrival terminal with air conditioning. The other services include restaurants, money exchange, and a tourist information section.
- The second floor is used for departure, both domestic and international flights. This region also has air conditioning and a lovely service system, such as fast food, drinks, duty-free shops for international guests, and souvenir shops.
2. Different transfer methods from this airport to the city center:
You may choose different means of transportation for your transfer from Phu Quoc International Airport to Duong Dong City.
It is a short distance from the airport to the city center, so the most convenient is a taxi, and the next one is a private car, but at a higher price. A shared bus is more complicated for you as a first-time traveler to this island.
2.1. Taxi in Phu Quoc Airport
From Phu Quoc Airport to the city center Duong Dong is 9km. It takes you 15 minutes to move by car or taxi. A taxi is the most convenient and very easy.
Getting a 4-seat taxi to the center of Duong Dong Town from the airport has a price of 250,000 VND and over.
Remember that before getting in the cab, you should ask for the price and request the owner to have a packaged payment from the airport to the place you want.
A few taxi companies are operating on the route from the airport to the center:
- Mai Linh Taxi (0297 3 97 97 97),
- Taxi Nam Thang Phu Quoc ( 0297 3 75 75 75 )
- Phu Quoc Taxi (0297 3 75 75 75)
- Taxi Saigon Phu Quoc (0297 3 73 73 73)
- and Sasco Taxi (0297 3 76 76 76).
2.2. A private car/van from the airport
If you do not want to use a taxi or the number of group 5 guests or over, you can book a car or van with a travel agency in advance to arrange the vehicle.
Private transportation is good for business travel and sightseeing on the island after moving from the airport. For example, pick up from the airport, then visit Ham Ninh Fishing Village or the National Park of Phu Quoc.
Of course, the price of this transfer is a little higher than the taxi rate, but it is more comfortable with peace of mind.
Depending on the distance, number of guests, date, and time to use the vehicle, the price of the car will be different. You can send a request to get a quotation for your needs.
2.3. Catching a shared bus
There is currently only one bus route operated by a private company, with the flight schedules from Phu Quoc airport running straight to the city center and vice versa.
- Pick up: at the car park of Phu Quoc airport (when you get out the airport door and go straight for about one minute to the parking).
- The fixed fare of this bus is 50,000 VND/ticket/ person.
The routes of this bus move to Tran Hung Dao Street, continue to run along the April 30 street, come to Hung Vuong Street, and stop at the center of Dong Duong City, at Nguyen Trung Truc Street. Please ask the bus staff to know the correct destinations of that bus!
We do not recommend this bus transfer or motorbike for our guests because it is not convenient and does not save your valuable time on the trip to Phu Quoc Island.
Besides, if you fly with Jetstar, you may check with them about their bus for Jetstar’s own guests. These buses can be operated on the flight time of this flight firm.
