Tra Que Vegetable Village is about 3km from the center of Hoi An ancient town forward the northeast, on the way from Hoi An to Da Nang.

The village has an area of ​​​​about 40 hectares, rotated by farmers to grow more than 40 types of vegetables following the traditional farming style for many generations.

Thanks to the source of clean water, fertile soil, and organic fertilizers – mainly taken from seaweed and hyacinth in the Co Co River, the vegetables here have a great aroma and crispiness. This vegetable source supplies the markets inHoi An and supermarkets in Da Nang City.

Tra Que vegetables have become indispensable ingredients in making the famous Mi Quang dish (Quang Noodles) and well-known Banh Mi.

Not only have organic vegetables but also Tra Que people have turned their village and growing method into a tourist destination and product to serve the sightseeing and discovery needs of many domestic and international tourists near and far.

1. Move to the vegetable village

Located quite close to the ancient town, where there are many beautiful 4-star Hoi An hotels, it is not difficult to move to Tra Que.

The favorite means of transport for many visitors to Tra Que Village is a bicycle. Riding slowly, you can see the peaceful rice fields, the countryside, and the villagers’ houses.

If you cannot ride a bicycle, or your hotel is farther away, such as in Da Nang, then a car is a suitable means of transport. Just hire a car with a driver from a travel agent to transfer you to this place.

However, if traveling by car, you park it outside the small alley leading to the village area. You walk a few hundred meters to see the vegetables.

2. Time to visit Tra Que Vegetable Village

The best daytimes are from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to visit this village. These durations are usually not too hot, and when Tra Que farmers come out to take care of vegetables.

The time of year to go to Tra Que is from October to December and from February to April every year. During these periods, it is great weather for the farmers to grow vegetables. So, there are various vegetable kinds grown to explore freely.

The summer months from May to September are hot, and vegetables are difficult to grow. Besides, the mid-day is hot, too. Thus, you should arrange a suitable time of day to visit to avoid the scorching heat.

3.1. Visiting vegetables

You will be spoiled for discovering all kinds of green vegetables, pay special attention to the herbs here – that is Quế (one type of herb). The flavorful herb vegetables are grown a lot here, so the locals call this place the Tra Que Village.

+ If you only come to the vegetable village to visit and take pictures, you can come anytime you like without reservation.

+ If you want to experience farming, cooking, or having lunch in Tra Que, you should book the service in advance. You can book through a travel agent, hotel, or directly with the local people.

+ Divided by Hai Ba Trung Road, Tra Que has two areas. In Vienamdrive’s experience, the right side (if you come from Hoi An City Center) is more beautiful to visit in the morning, and the left side is great for exploring in the afternoon. The two parts are relatively similar, so you only need to come to one.

+ Besides the Tam Huu dish, É juice is made from the seeds of the é trees, which are popularly grown here. So, you should try this drink, it’s both cool and tasty, great for refreshment if you come here on a hot day.
