For visitors staying along Cua Dai Beach or An Bang Beach, many resorts and boutique hotels provide complimentary shuttle buses to the Ancient Town several times a day. Hoi An Pickup and Drop-off Tips
Hoi An has several traffic and access restrictions that may affect where your driver can pick you up or drop you off. Understanding these local conditions helps avoid confusion and saves time during your trip.
1. Visiting Hoi An Ancient Town After a Day Trip
Many visitors combine My Son Sanctuary, Da Nang, or Ba Na Hills with a visit to Hoi An Ancient Town. Since private cars cannot enter the Old Town, your driver will normally drop you at one of the designated parking areas.
During busy periods, especially weekends and holidays, the nearest parking lots may be full. Traffic staff may direct vehicles to more distant parking areas, requiring a 300 to 500 metre walk to the Ancient Town Center.
Before leaving the vehicle, take note of the parking location or save it on your phone’s map. This makes it much easier to find your driver when you finish sightseeing.
2. Some Hotels Cannot Be Reached by Car
Hoi An has many boutique hotels and homestays located along narrow lanes, particularly in Cam Thanh and riverside areas. Although the main roads are accessible, the final section leading to the property may only be wide enough for motorbikes.

3. Hotels Inside or Next to the Ancient Town
Some hotels, including several properties near Tran Phu Street and within the Ancient Town, cannot be accessed directly by private cars.

Hoi An welcomes international visitors throughout the year, so experienced English-speaking drivers are often booked in advance, especially during weekends and peak travel seasons. Cars Cannot Enter Hoi An Ancient Town
Since cars are not allowed inside the center of Hoi An Ancient Town, visitors usually explore the center on foot or by bicycle. If your plan is mainly to explore the Ancient Town, there is little benefit in keeping a private car for the entire day. Walking, cycling, or taking a short taxi ride from nearby hotels is usually the more practical option.
Hiring a Car to An Bang Beach
Many visitors ask whether they should hire a private car to An Bang Beach. In most cases, we don’t recommend it. The beach is only a short distance from Hoi An, so taking a taxi or riding a bicycle is usually more enjoyable and economical.
