I began working in the tourism industry in 2005 as a tour guide and tour operator, giving me the opportunity to accompany many international travelers exploring Vietnam. Through hundreds of trips and conversations with travelers, I gradually realized that not everyone wanted to join a package tour.
Many travelers prefer to plan their own journeys. They want the freedom to choose their destinations, length of stay, and experiences based on their own interests. What they really need is reliable transportation to connect their journey, rather than a package tour.
Recognizing this need, I founded Vietnamdrive in 2009.
At that time, travel information about Central Vietnam and many other destinations across the country was still limited online, especially for international travelers. Vietnamdrive began as a website providing practical travel information while also helping travelers arrange private transportation and connect with local drivers, particularly those who could communicate in English. Our operations initially focused on Hoi An before gradually expanding throughout Central Vietnam.
As more travelers began using our services, Vietnamdrive expanded its network of transportation partners across the country. With the growth of the internet and translation technology, we were no longer limited by the availability of English-speaking drivers. Instead, Vietnamdrive developed a communication process that supports travelers, drivers, and our operations team, ensuring every journey runs smoothly. This approach has enabled many local transportation providers to serve international travelers while giving travelers more choices backed by consistent service standards.
Over time, travelers’ needs have continued to evolve. More people now want the freedom to explore Vietnam’s scenic roads by driving themselves. In response, Vietnamdrive expanded into self-drive car rentals alongside our chauffeur-driven services, offering international travelers greater flexibility in how they experience Vietnam.
Today, Vietnamdrive is no longer just a travel information website or a car rental service. We are gradually evolving into a travel transportation platform for international travelers, connecting them with trusted transportation providers throughout Vietnam.
My vision as the founder of Vietnamdrive is to build a platform that makes it easy for international travelers to access reliable transportation services across Vietnam. In addition, I want to create sustainable opportunities for local drivers and transport providers. I believe that when technology, people, and local expertise come together, both travelers and local partners benefit, creating more value with every journey.
