45-Seater Buses in Vietnam

Check different 45-seat coaches suited for big groups for traveling around the country and working transfers to conferences.

In Vietnam, you’ll find many different types of 45-seater buses, including both domestically manufactured and imported models. This type of vehicle is commonly chosen by travel companies and transportation businesses for long-distance routes, worker shuttles in industrial zones, and especially for large tourist groups. Rental prices vary depending on specific requirements.

A 45-seat bus can accommodate up to 44 passengers plus a professional driver who is properly trained and meets standard operating requirements.

However, when serving international tourists, most operators in Vietnam use these buses for a maximum of about 35 Asian passengers with luggage, or 32 passengers from Europe, America, Australia, or Canada.

Leaving some seats empty helps create a more spacious and comfortable environment for long journeys, while also providing extra room for carry-on luggage when passengers have a lot of belongings.

Bus rentals in Vietnam, including 45-seat vehicles, always come with a driver; self-drive rentals are not permitted. In some cases, a bus assistant may accompany the driver to help load and unload luggage, clean the bus during and after the trip, and assist with reversing in tight parking spaces, a small detail, but one that can make a big difference during the journey.

Popular 45-Seater Bus Models in Vietnam

Among the popular 45-seat bus brands in Vietnam, such as Thaco, Hyundai, Samco, Haeco, and Kia, the standout models are the Hyundai Universe and Universe Samco, which dominate the market. Below are the types most commonly used for transporting both domestic and international tourists in Vietnam.

1. Thaco Bluesky 120S (also known as Thaco Universe 45 seats)

The Thaco Bluesky 120S is one of the signature 45-seat vehicles manufactured by Truong Hai Auto (THACO) at the Chu Lai complex (formerly in Quang Nam Province, now part of Da Nang City). The vehicle features a modern design, a monocoque body, and a sturdy chassis that enhance safety and stability during operation.

The interior is thoughtfully arranged, with seats upholstered in high-quality leather or fabric, complete with backrests and armrests to provide a soft, comfortable experience for passengers on long trips.

Its high-capacity air conditioning system operates reliably even in Vietnam’s hot and humid climate. This model is favored by many travel companies for its durability, fuel efficiency, and reasonable maintenance costs.

2. Hyundai Universe (45 seats)

The Hyundai Universe is a 45-seat bus that is either imported or locally assembled and is highly regarded by transportation and travel businesses. It is the most popular model for serving international tourists in Vietnam, thanks to its luxurious, European-style design featuring a large grille and distinctive headlights.

The spacious passenger cabin offers fabric or leather seats, depending on the version, with reclining functions to ensure comfort on long journeys.

The vehicle is equipped with an entertainment system that includes an LCD screen, a quality sound system with a microphone for tour guides, and a high-capacity air conditioner that cools quickly.

Thanks to its excellent soundproofing and bright, airy interior, the Hyundai Universe is a top choice among international travelers for interprovincial and cross-country tours in Vietnam.

3. Hyundai Universe Ex – Haeco (Hue)

Assembled at the Thong Nhat Hue Automobile Factory (Haeco), the Hyundai Universe Ex combines imported components with a thick, heavy-duty steel chassis that ensures stable operation on steep, winding, and sometimes rough mountain roads in Vietnam’s Central and Central Highlands regions.

The passenger cabin is efficiently designed, with wider spacing between seat rows than the common standard, allowing passengers to stretch their legs easily and remain comfortable throughout the journey.

The vehicle is equipped with a powerful diesel engine, ABS brakes, and a high-capacity air conditioning system that cools quickly and distributes air evenly throughout the cabin. With its stable performance and meticulously finished interior, the Universe Ex has become a familiar choice for many travel companies serving European guests and high-end groups on routes across the Central and Central Highlands regions, as well as long-distance North–South tours.

4. Samco Universe Wenda (45 seats)

The Samco Universe Wenda features a bold exterior design with a large front end and a two-tier LED headlight cluster that enhances illumination and gives the vehicle a sense of stability. Its aerodynamic body helps improve fuel efficiency and stability on long-distance routes.

The underfloor luggage compartment is spacious and well-suited for organizing large suitcases, ideal for tour groups carrying a significant amount of personal luggage.

Inside, the interior is carefully crafted with wood-style plastic trim, soft LED lighting, and reclining leather seats (the preferred version) with footrests, offering comfort throughout long journeys.

The Samco Wenda is commonly used by domestic travel companies for long-distance or cross-regional routes such as Hanoi – Sapa, Da Nang – Phong Nha, or Ho Chi Minh City – Nha Trang.

5. Kia Granbird (45 seats)

The Kia Granbird, assembled at the Tracomeco factory, is a model that combines Korean technology with Vietnamese production standards. The vehicle is equipped with an engine that meets Euro IV emission standards and advanced safety braking systems such as ABS and ASR.

The interior is highly regarded for its spacious design, powerful air conditioning system, and excellent soundproofing, making it ideal for long journeys or groups of passengers who value privacy and quiet.

The current 45-seat bus types in Vietnam all meet high standards for safety, comfort, and design. Each brand has its own strengths: Hyundai for a smooth ride, Thaco for durability, and the Kia Granbird for luxury, but all are focused on providing passengers with a safe and comfortable travel experience.

Why is the Hyundai Universe type popular in Vietnam?

The Hyundai Universe is currently the most popular 45-seat tourist bus model in Vietnam.

Designed by Hyundai Korea and assembled by several domestic manufacturers such as Thaco, Haeco, and Samco, this bus line stands out for its luxurious design, reliable engine performance in hot and humid conditions, and comfortable interior.

With its high durability, smooth operation, and strong safety record, the Hyundai Universe is the preferred choice for most travel companies for both city and long-distance trips.

What Activities Are 45-Seat Buses Suitable For?

1. Tourist Transportation for Large Groups (20 or More People)

For groups of more than 20 people, although 29-seat buses can still meet the demand, many travelers prefer more spacious interiors and want the entire group to travel together. In this case, 45-seat buses become the ideal choice. Compared to renting multiple smaller vans, using a 45-seat bus is often more economical and easier to manage during the trip.

2. Conference or Event Group Transportation

For conference or seminar groups with a variable number of attendees, for example, when traveling from a conference center to a restaurant or hotel, arranging several 45-seat buses is a flexible solution. Large organizations often use multiple buses at the same time to transport dozens or even hundreds of guests, ensuring coordination and punctuality.

A small note when renting the vehicle for your group:

One thing to keep in mind: the steps on 45-seat buses are usually quite high.

If your group includes elderly passengers or people with mobility difficulties, be sure to inform the bus rental company in advance. They can provide an extra step to make boarding and exiting easier. At each stop, the driver usually places a small plastic step (or sometimes a sturdy crate) on the ground by the bus door to help passengers get on and off safely and easily.

FAQs About Hiring 45-Seater Buses

Please send us your questions if you cannot find it here!

How many passengers can a 45-seat bus carry?

A 45-seat bus can carry up to 44 passengers (without luggage) plus 1 driver. However, to ensure a comfortable trip, we recommend carrying no more than 40 passengers without luggage, or 35 passengers with luggage.
Yes, 45-seat buses are not only good for tours but also fully suitable for events and business trips. However, you should provide a detailed itinerary so that Vietnamdrive and the service provider can check the route. Large buses may encounter difficulties in central areas or in locations where large vehicles are restricted.

Since the number of 45-seat buses is limited, you should book at least 1 month in advance. During peak seasons such as Christmas, Lunar New Year, or other major holidays, it is best to book at least 2 months ahead to ensure availability.

Drivers of 45-seat buses often do not speak English, as many are older and may find it difficult to learn a foreign language. Therefore, Vietnamdrive recommends hiring a tour guide or interpreter to assist with communication during the trip.
Tipping is not mandatory, but it is generally recommended. For the driver, around 50,000 VND or 2 USD per passenger per day is customary, unless otherwise agreed with the service provider. The assistant driver usually travels with the main driver and may receive a share of the tip, or you can tip them separately as a polite and generous gesture.
