The developing process of Phu Quoc airport
Phu Quoc airport was built during the French colonial period to transport food, weapons, and people during the war. At that time, the yard was quite small, could only accommodate DC3 small aircraft with a maximum capacity of about 32 people.

Phu Quoc Airport, fully known as Phu Quoc International Airport, went into operation in December 2012 and was built by the Airport Corporation of Vietnam with the ability to serve about 3-4 million visitors per year. This airport serves both civilian and military purposes, with a total area of around 904 hectares.
The airport has domestic airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific, and Bamboo Airways, and some international airlines operate daily routes such as AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, and Donghai Airlines.
